The withdrawal button is mandatory from today (19 June 2026)
From 19 June 2026, webshops in Croatia must have a unilateral withdrawal button. Legal basis: Article 81.a of the Zakon o zaštiti potrošača (NN 59/2026) and Directive (EU) 2023/2673.

As of today, 19 June 2026, every webshop selling to consumers in Croatia must have a withdrawal button.
A customer has to be able to withdraw from a distance contract as easily as they entered it. If they subscribed online in two clicks, they must be able to cancel in two clicks, with no email and no hidden form.
The obligation comes from Article 81.a of the Zakon o zaštiti potrošača (the Croatian Consumer Protection Act), introduced by the amending act published in Narodne novine (the Official Gazette) issue 59/2026. Parliament passed it on 29 May 2026.
The Croatian act transposes Directive (EU) 2023/2673, which introduces a withdrawal function for contracts concluded through an online interface. The directive applies from 19 June 2026 across the whole Union, so the same obligation reaches traders in every member state.
What the button must have under Article 81.a:
- prominent and easily accessible in the interface, labelled "withdraw from contract" or an equally unambiguous phrase
- an online form where the customer enters their name, the contract details and contact information
- a confirmation function (the customer fills it in, then confirms the statement)
- a receipt on a durable medium, with the date and time of submission
Enforcement sits with the Državni inspektorat (the Croatian State Inspectorate).
